Subspecialized in neurorehabilitation, spasticity treatment, neuromodulation, non-invasive brain stimulation, and gait disorders. Has several publications in stroke and neuromodulation. Member of the UNESCO AD HOC EXPERT GROUP (AHEG) for recommendations on the ethics of neurotechnology. Editorial board European J Neurology. Co-Chair AEDES (Austrian Egyptian Developmental Neurorehabilitation Stewardship). National Coordinator of SITS registry Egypt. Member of WSO, MDS, WFNR. PI, Co-PI in research projects: - Neuromodulation lab. - Identification of genetic alteration and fMRI and role of TMS in Cerebral Small Vessels Disease. - Developing a predictor of brain plasticity mechanism post-stroke as a guide for the choice of the paradigm of NIBS. - The potential role of tDCS on the healing of experimentally induced ischemic stroke model in male albino rats. Ahmed El Bassiouny
Dr. Ahmed El Bassiouny – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University Professor of Neurology and Intervention Neurology The president of the scientific medical council for the Egyptian Neurology Fellowship Professor El Bassiouny ambition and enthusiasm for reducing the burden of stroke made him take the hard path and be a pioneer in neurovascular intervention. He was trained and received his degree in Neurointervention from Switzerland. Soon after returning to Egypt, he took the responsibility of training many generations of young neurologists to be experts in this field, so he could be visualized as the Godfather of Neurointervention in Egypt. Well recognized as a professor of neurology and Neurointervention not only in Ain Shams University but in 10 Egyptian faculties of medicine, besides major health institutes such as Wadi El Neel and Egyptian health insurance hospitals. For such great efforts and hard work Professor El Bassiouny is the first to hold the director position of the comprehensive Ain Shams University Stroke Center.
Dr. Tamer Roushdy – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Doctor / Tamer Roushdy – Associate Professor of Neurology - Faculty of Medicine - Ain Shams University. Graduated from the School of Medicine in 2006. Published many articles in the field of neurology and stroke in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals. Participated in LGA international accreditation for the stroke units of Ain Shams University hospitals. He was responsible for the training of residents on NIHSS and was on call with them in decisions regarding thrombolysis administration since its endorsement by MOH. He led a study assessing stroke service availability in Africa that was published in the International Journal of Stroke, the official Journal of the World Stroke Organization. Together with colleagues in the initiative of treat and teach provided a virtual training program to Somalia through Telemedicine. Over the past few years, he has supervised the Ain Shams University RESQ and SITS sites and is the local coordinator for the EGASU SITS site. On a regular basis with the support of the Angels initiative, he trained different members of stroke units in Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq on applying for WSO - RESQ awards through virtual sessions. For 2 years ending in January 2023, he was the director of the stroke center at Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital.
Dr. Hossam Shokri – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Published many articles in the field of neurology and stroke in international peer reviewed journals. Participated in LGA international accreditation for the stroke units of Ain Shams university hospitals. He was responsible for the training of residents in the neurology department of Ain Shams University and was on call with them in decisions regarding acute stroke management since the endorsement of thrombolysis by MOH. Over the past few years, he has supervised the Ain Shams university SITS site and is the local coordinator for Ain Shams university specialized hospital SITS site. For more than three years ending in December 2021 he was the director of the stroke center and the neurology unit of Ain Shams university specialized hospital.

Dr. Mai Fathy – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Active Member in the Neurosonology subspeciality unit within the stroke specialty at Ain Shams University Stroke Center and Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital Stroke unit. Besides her subspeciality in neurosonology, she has specialized in the injection of Carpal Tunnel Syndromes, pain relief of headaches, and injection through the aid of ultrasound.
Dr. Eman Mones Mahmoud Abushady – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
She was born in Saudi Arabia and graduated from the faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University. She obtained her medical degree at Ain Shams University. Her residency was at the neurology department at Ain Shams University and it’s affiliated El Demerdash Hospital. Completed her master’s degree in 2013 and her MD in 2018. Dr. Eman has eleven years of experience in neurology with a special interest in Stroke and neurosonology. She led the CAIRO study discussing the role of loading clopidogrel at acute stroke onset as well as participating in several studies in the field of stroke and ultrasound in stroke and vascular neurology.
Dr. Ayman Hassan Othman El-Sudany – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Dr. Ayman El-Sudany – Lecturer of Neurology – Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams University He graduated from the faculty of medicine in 2006. Received his master’s degree in neurology and psychiatry in 2011. And his medical doctorate degree in neurology in 2017. He is sub-specialized in the field of stroke medicine and neuroendovascular interventions. Can do all interventional neurology procedures such as acute stroke treatments, extra and intracranial stenting, coiling of brain aneurysms, and embolization of brain AVMs.
Dr. Rady Yousif – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Graduated from the School of Medicine in 2012. He finished a training program for 3 years in Neurointervention in Ain Shams University Hospitals. He was on call with residents to make decisions on thrombolysis and thrombectomy procedures. Also was on call for intervention procedures in cases with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.
Yasmine Hassan Abdelhamid – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
She is a dedicated lecturer with a special interest in neurorehabilitation, spasticity management, neuromodulation, and non-invasive brain stimulation. She has profound expertise in the field with extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, treating a wide range of neurological conditions. She is an active member of the European Stroke Organization (ESO) and the World Stroke Organization (WSO), her research focuses on cerebral small vessel disease, where she has made significant contributions to understanding the underlying mechanisms of this important vascular condition, and she is an active member of the stroke research group at the department. Dr. Yasmine remains passionate about translating research into clinical solutions, continually striving to enhance patient care and outcomes in neurology.
Alaa Amgad Alzahaby – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
She is an enthusiastic neurologist, specializing in stroke care and cerebrovascular diseases. After spending her residency years in the Neurology Department at Ain Shams University Hospitals and being inspired by one of the world’s most distinguished Professors, Dr Hany Aref, she became interested in delivering comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for stroke patients. Being a member of the neuromodulation team, she acknowledged the importance of long-term rehabilitation strategies, enhancing patients’ independence and improving their quality of life. In addition to clinical work, research has always been a pillar of our work in the Ain Shams stroke unit with numerous publications focusing on stroke risk factors, innovative therapies, and improving the services provided to our patients.
Mostafa Hashim – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Dr. Mostafa graduated from the faculty of medicine with excellent grades with honors in 2015, received his master’s degree in 2020, and his medical doctorate in 2024. He Joined the Neuropsychiatry department as a resident in 2017 and academically was assigned the position of assistant lecturer of neurology and interventional neurology from 2020 to 2024. Dr. Mostafa hopes to become one of the best Interventional Neurology Consultants and be able to perform difficult skilled vascular Interventional Neurology procedures, gain experience in vascular neurology research with international publications, and educate younger medical students on neuro-interventional techniques.
Nourhan Abdelmohsen Taha – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
She graduated in 2015, was certified with a master’s degree in Neurology and Psychiatry in 2020, and lately received her medical doctorate in Neurology in 2024. Furthermore, she is a member of the Neurosonology unit in the Neurology department and an active member of the SITS registry team at Ain Shams University Hospitals, contributing to stroke research and patient care. She has been a speaker at two Neurosonology workshops, where she discussed the role of Neurosonology in both vascular and non-vascular neurology. Aside from that, she is also a member of the International Headache Society, further showcasing her diverse expertise. Dr. Taha has three international publications, two of which are in the neurovascular field, with the latest published in BMC Neurology. Her research continues to make an impact, with an abstract presented at the European Stroke Organization Conference 2024, and the full article is pending publication in the European Stroke Journal. Beyond her research and clinical work, Dr. Taha is deeply committed to mentoring and education, shaping the next generation of neurologists while contributing to public health awareness, particularly in stroke prevention.
Mohamed Maged Mohamed Farag – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
Dr. Maged is a member of the European Stroke Organization (ESO) and the Movement Disorders Society (MDS). He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 2014 joined the neurology department and began to be subspecialized in neurology and stroke since 2016. He received his master’s degree in neurology and psychiatry in 2019 and his medical doctorate in neurology in 2023. His main scientific research interest is in the field of small vessel disease and different applications of neurosonoalogy as he is an active member of the neurosonology subunit within the stroke unit.
Fatma Fathalla Mahmoud Kenawy – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine with excellent grades with honors in 2008. She received her master’s degree in Neurology and Psychiatry in 2013 and became a fellow at the Royal College in 2017 where she got her MRCP degrees, in 2018 she received her medical doctorate in Neurology. She is specialized in cerebrovascular stroke, headache, and neurorehabilitation. Her PhD. thesis was on the role and efficacy of peripheral magnetic theta burst stimulation on the functional recovery of stroke patients. She is a member of the neuromodulation and neurorehabilitation lab as well as the motion and gait lab within the stroke unit of Ain Shams University hospitals. Her research interest is focusing on stroke and cerebrovascular disease, small vessel disease, and neurorehabilitation of stroke.
Khaled Fayez Elmancy – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine with excellent grades with honors in 2015, received his master’s degree in neurology and psychiatry in 2020, and received his medical doctorate in neurology in 2024. He joined the neurology and psychiatry department as a resident in 2017 and up to 2020. Academically became assistant lecturer in neurology in 2020 and held the academic position of lecturer of neurology and interventional neurology in 2024. Dr. Khaled hopes to become one of the best Interventional Neurology Consultants and be able to perform difficult skilled vascular Interventional Neurology procedures, gain experience in vascular neurology research with international publications, and master different skills of neurophysiology and neuro-sonography.
Noha Lotfy Soliman Dawood – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University.
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 2009, received her master’s degree in neurology and psychiatry in 2013, and her medical doctorate in neurology in 2019. She has more than 12 years of experience in Neurology, specializing in Stroke medicine and Vascular Neurosonology for diagnosis and follow-up of stroke patients providing her patients with the best quality, care, and optimum management to ensure the best possible short- and long-term outcomes along with a team of qualified strokologists working in harmony and collaboration for the benefit of patients receiving care in Ain Shams University Hospitals. Dr. Noha's research interests center on the various aspects of stroke, particularly the identification and modulation of risk factors, as well as the development of effective prevention and treatment strategies. By integrating epidemiological data with clinical research, she strives to contribute to evidence-based guidelines that promote holistic approaches to stroke prevention and treatment, ultimately aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with this complex condition.
Amr Saeed – MD. PhD. Neurology – Ain Shams University
He graduated from the School of Medicine in 2011. Published many articles in the field of neurology and stroke in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals. Participated in LGA international accreditation for the stroke units of Ain Shams University hospitals. Dr. Amr Saeed has extensive experience in the field of brain catheterization and neuro-interventional procedures. He provides aneurysm coiling services using the latest medical technologies. In addition to performing arteriovenous malformation chemoembolization, carotid artery angioplasty and stenting, mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke patients. He is a member of the World Stroke Organization (WSO) and European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT).
